Judson McKinney and Shannon Forrest are both from upstate South Carolina (“Cackalacky” as they like to say) but neither one had met each other until a session at Blackbird Studio in Nashville. Judson is from Clemson, Shannon from Easley. They recorded one of Judson’s songs called Hello Nashville Yoga Pants, a satire on Nashville in the 2020’s, and something clicked. Ever since then, they began working on Judson McKinney and the Wanderers at Shannon’s recording studio in Nolensville.
Their mission was pretty clear. How can they maximize both the groove and the intellectual property of Judson McKinney music? How could they present it in the most compelling way that would get the message across to the entire world? For over a year, grinding with both the pen and with instruments, the songwriter and the producer-drummer have created an artistic imprint that is unparalleled in Rock Music in its insistence on originality, thought, and natural performance energy. What does it sound like? You can call it Rolling Stones 2050, Bob Dylan on a Red bull, a groovier take on Skynyrd, or simply Judson McKinney and the Wanderers, this music is created by individuals for the individual. And groups of individuals like it too.
